Dubious deliveries: Filipina frontliner gets packages she never ordered

Horror stories from online purchases aren’t new, but they usually come from couriers that either “get pranked” by bogus orders or mistyped delivery addresses.

This one, however, is a bit different.

Facebook user and medical technologist Rowena Calapati’s post has recently gone viral with over 2,900 shares, at least 2,300 reactions, and 628 comments.

Why? Because she has been getting deliveries from Shopee, Lazada, and Jollibee—without her ordering them.

According to Calapati, the deliveries started on August 14 and have continued until today. Expected payments ranged from over PhP 1,000 to as much as PhP 90,000.

This would have been a relatively normal series of events (albeit involving obscene amounts of cash) if she actually ordered them—but she didn’t.

“Never akong um-order sa Shopee ng worth PhP 20,000 and up and wala din akong Lazada app,” Calapati said. She has even showed her Shopee app to the couriers as proof that she never ordered what they were trying to deliver.

She and the people she lives with have tried to get any useful information from the couriers, particularly the phone number and IP address of whoever placed the order. Apparently, the phone number cannot be contacted.

Calapati says she doesn’t know of anyone who might have a grudge against her in order to do this. She is now seeking help from local authorities or the National Bureau of Investigation to track down the bogus online buyer.

“Kung sino ka mang nangti-trip ka, please lang, itigil mo na. Nakakaawa yung mga taong nadadamay sa lakas ng trip mo.”
