What was supposed to be a cheerful birthday celebration in The Hague, Netherlands turned tense after former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque got into a heated argument with fellow Duterte supporters—over a serving of humba.
In a Facebook live video posted by Cecil M. Arceño, the gathering of DDS supporters for birthday celebrant Alvin suddenly turned sour when a woman loudly complained about someone named “Aldo” who allegedly “disrespected” them online.
Roque, visibly irritated, stepped in: “This is my appeal. Some things are right, some things are wrong. You need to take a stand against wrong.”
The situation escalated when Roque found out Aldo’s online tirade was apparently aimed at him for eating the sponsored humba.
“Can I pay for the whole humba, I will pay for the whole humba?” Roque blurted out, clearly agitated.
A woman quickly stopped him, reminding him that the dish was for everyone and was sponsored by the best friend of the celebrant, not something for sale. But Roque persisted: “Merong tama, merong mali. You have to take a stand kung mali. Sunud-sunuran kayo sa kanya eh… Make a stand.”
Things got even more awkward when Roque confronted Alvin himself, the birthday celebrant.
“I was the one blasphemed, I was blasphemed… Mag-please ka nang mag-please. Ako ang binastos… ako ang tinira. You have to condemn what is wrong. Magkano ang humba na ‘yan?” he snapped.
The clash turned the simple handaan into a scene of raised voices and tension, with others in the party eventually stepping in to cool down the situation.
