A video clip featuring Janno Gibbs as a presidentiable and Leo Martinez as a political adviser, has gone viral.

Comedian and TV Host, Janno Gibbs, took the social media spotlight, yesterday, March 18, when a clip of his parodying act went viral.

Netizens are quick to conclude that the video alludes to both director Darryl Yap and the former senator and defeated 2016 vice-presidentiable, Bongbong Marcos. In the said comedy skit, Gibbs portrays himself as ‘President Gibbs’, who is running for a top government position. The clip opens with Leo Martinez, who reprised his well-loved character, Manhik Manaog (Juan Tamad at Mister Shooli: Mongolian Barbecue, 1994), seemingly enjoying a video being played on his phone. President Gibbs enters the room and promptly asks what Congressman Manhik-Manaog is watching.

Eh ‘yung pinagawa natin kay Darryl…’yun bang Len-len content?” the lawmaker, who is also Gibbs’ senior adviser, responds. “Viral nga ‘yun” they both agree. That sounded to be a swipe at film maker, Darryl Yap, who has also been busy leading the charge against presidentiable, VP Leni Robredo, through his viral Len-len series. Yap is a known Bongbong Marcos supporter.

While Gibbs seemed to be content about the success of their ‘Len-Len’ campaign, he still wondered… “….parang puro tungkol sa kalaban ang ginagawa ninyong content?” (It seems like we’re only creating contents that feature our rivals). Again this is a direct swipe at Yap, whose Len-len videos seem to only poke fun at VP Robredo.

Gibbs then proposed that maybe they can make content that highlight his achievements and accomplishments, to which Cong. Manhik-Manaog replied “Bakit? May accomplishment ka ba? Eh wala naman eh. Ano ba ang nagawa mo in the past few years?” (Is that so? What are your accomplishments, then? I can’t think of one. What have you accomplished in the past few years?). Gibbs responded by citing his participation to the ABS-CBN series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano and a certain noontime show.

Eh hindi pa rin accomplishment ‘yun…wala pa rin” (You can’t call those as accomplishments…they mean nothing)” the political adviser argued. Gibbs proceeded to mentioning his father’s accomplishments, only to be refuted again by Manhik-Manaog who demanded for President’s Gibbs personal achievements instead. This part obviously alludes to Bongbong Marcos, whose accomplishments and other public-serving activities in the last six years, remain questionable. It also pokes fun at Bongbong’s supporters who usually bring the achievements of Bongbong’s dictator father into an argument, when asked about Bongbong’s accomplishments.

Gibbs’ worries then shifted to Presidential debates where he expressed his intention to join. Manhik-Manaog,who sounded to be smarter than his client, however pointed out that joining debates will only reveal how intellectually-challenged Gibbs is. “…mahahalatang bobo ka” (they will know that you’re stupid”, the Congressman reminded him.

Grabe sya, hindi naman ako bobo. Matalino ako no. Nag-masters nga ako sa Ateneo” (You’re exaggerating. I’m not dumb. I’m actually bright. I even got a master’s degree from Ateneo) Gibbs argued. Again, Manhik-Manaog, who seems to know everything about Gibbs, reminded the presidentiable that such a claim is fake and that everybody knows about it already. This part is yet another swipe at former senator Marcos, whose academic claims have always been refuted and disproved by the academic institutions he claimed to have attended.

Gibbs also expressed his worries about the COMELEC debates, and wondered whether Manhik-Manaog can convince the commission to not ask his client certain personal questions. “..huwag itanong ‘yung mga intriga sa akin” ‘Yung mga chicks na natismis sa akin, puwede bang ‘wag itanong?” (…ask them to never ask questions about the controversies I got involved, like the women I dated), Gibbs asked. An assuring Manhig-Manaog happily said, that such a request can be done, because he has connections inside the COMELEC.

It can be recalled that Bongbong Marcos’s camp asked for the format and set of general questions from COMELEC, before finally confirming their non-attendance to the event.

During the last part of Gibbs’ clip, Congressman Manhik-Manaog called him out for seemingly being addicted to Coke, a cola brand. “Masyado ka nang mag-Coke ah…” (You’ve been drinking too much Coke lately) he said and then he went on to reminding the presidentiable that the drink has too much sugar in it.

Para kang suminghot ng isang basong asukal…Mangingiwi ka pa diyan” (It’s like you have snorted a glassful of sugar. It will give you a distorted mouth), he said, which alludes to President Duterte’s claim that the former dictator’s son uses cocaine.

In the last frame of the video, Gibbs pulled off a facial expression with the sides of his mouth twitched.

The viral Twitter clip has garnered 300,000 views, nearly 9,000 retweets, and 27,000 likes. On YouTube, where Gibbs uploaded the full version of the clip, the video is already seen more than 125,000 times after a day.

Netizens now wonder whether another episode of the now-viral political satire will be up soon. Based on Gibbs’s reaction to his commenters, their requests might get granted.
