JV Ejercito comments on Congressmen sour-graping against ABS-CBN

Ex-Senator JV Ejercito reacted to Congressmen who are personalizing the issue on the ABS-CBN franchise renewal.

Ejercito said that some Congressmen have personal grudges against ABS-CBN and are using the franchise hearing as an opportunity to defend themselves.

[Some points are needed to be answered by ABS-CBN, but mostly, they are personal grudges, and they used the hearing to defend themselves]

Ejercito also said that most people depend on free TV and at this time of pandemic, news, and information are very important.

[Not all Filipinos have access to wifi and cable, they just depend on free TV. News and information is very important at this time of the pandemic.]

He then mentioned that if there is someone who must hold grudges against ABS-CBN, he could have been one. But, he reiterates that the present administration should not inherit the shortcomings of the past.

Malaki papel ng ABS dito,” he said.

[If there is someone who must hold grudges against ABS-CBN, I could have been one because our life has changed. ABS-CBN plays a big role in this.]

[But the fault of the past has nothing to do with the present administration. Still, the Filipino must not be deprived of entertainment]

Meanwhile, the former senator commended ABS-CBN CEO, Carlo Katigbak. However, he is dismayed as Katigbak seems to have inherited the shortcomings of his predecessors.

While Ejercito may partly blame ABS-CBN for their family’s political downfall, a reason they became part of the news was his father, former President Joseph Estrada, facing a plunder case.

During the 2019 election, Ejercito also had a feud with his brother Jinggoy Estrada which reportedly split the votes. Eventually, they both lost the senatorial race.
