Disabled Student shows Determination to Pursue Her Studies

  • Despite her condition, she showed perseverance to continue her studies.
  • Mae can always be seen burning the midnight oil.
  • Social media users admired the disabled student and the latter served as their inspiration.

Success can be achieved by those who have the determination and who put in hard work. A disabled student who has difficulty in seeing is still determined to pursue her studies.

A teacher named Rhea Manglicmot from T’boli National High School shared photographs of an 18-year-old named Mae Sasutil via facebook. The teenage girl was diagnosed with a congenital eye disorder. Despite her condition, she persevered in her studies.

After the teacher’s post, her photographs went viral on social media. Mae can be seen burning the midnight oil. A shot showed her having her nose in a book (reading intensely).

To teacher Rhea, it pains her to see Mae’s condition because she had to read too close to the book she’s holding in order to literally read what were printed in it. Despite a challenging state, the disabled student is still trying her best to study.

Because of her determination, Netizens admired her and she even became their inspiration.

Here are the thoughts of those who were touched by Sasutil’s example.

“I admire and praise you for your dedication to pursue your schooling! God bless you!”

“She’s not kawawa. For me, she portrays an image of passion and dedication towards education. No disorder can stop her to learn and improve herself. Kudos to this young lady.”

Saludo ako sayo MAE SASUTIL, pagpalain ka ng Makapangyarihang Maykapal, GOD is Great.”

Teacher Rhea’s post was made in order to seek help for Mae and the local government and DepEd responded and committed to the help.
