A guy assumed he received a bouquet of flowers on his first day at work and later discovered it was not for him

  • The netizen simply assumed that it was for him because he found it on top of his desk
  • He was so overwhelmed to receive such beautiful flowers; he decided to take a few photos with the flowers to commemorate his first day of work
  • “But they had seen me go around the office having this mini photo shoot and and they just felt too bad to say anything.”

How would you feel about having a thought in assuming a gift was meant for you but was actually not?

It happened to Jon Caña, a newly hired digital marketer in San Francisco called Essence. On his first day of work, he felt so welcomed after finding a gift full of company swag and card.

Then later on that day, he saw a bouquet of flowers on his desk thinking that was another gift for him. Since there were no cards attached, he asked his new manager if he happened to know where the flowers were from, but his manager had no idea.

Jon simply assumed that it was for him because he found it on top of his desk. And thinking is was a part of welcoming him in the company.

“I just assumed they were kind of part of this whole first day experience. I was like, ‘Wow, this day just keeps getting better and better,” he said.

Jon had no idea what really happened on his first day. Until about a week ago, while having a company party, when the office manager told him that those flower weren’t actually for him. It was misplaced on his desk and was meant for someone else.

His office mates felt too bad to tell him the truth for he was already having a mini photo shoot while carrying the bouquet.

“The flowers were actually misplaced on my desk and they were meant for someone else,” Caña said. “But they had seen me go around the office having this mini photo shoot and and they just felt too bad to say anything.”

He thought it was so funny and decided to update his followers and it went viral and have been interviewed by BuzzFeed about it.
