The video message featuring the Presidential aspirant was posted on the evening of April 22, 2016. The video was apparently made to give assurance to her supporters and the rest of the Filipino voting public about her continuous cancer treatment and her regaining health:

So I’m perfectly normal now, as you can tell just from my voice and from the way I speak, I think. And I’m very happy to notice your reports that many people are switching sides.

(“For all my supporters on Facebook, I would like to thank you all for your sacrifice and concern that you showed for me. I do not know you personally because we are all so busy, but I would like to let you know, that I have regained my health because of new medicine that doesn’t even have a name yet, only a code, that changes the personality of someone who has cancer and returning the old normal personality of the person. So I’m perfectly normal now, as you can tell just from my voice and from the way I speak, I think. And I’m very happy to notice your reports that many people are switching sides. So, we all know that this is the time that undecided voters will decide. These few remaining days are crucial, very important. This is why I hope that you continue with your concern for us to all go to Malacañang together.”)

Defensor-Santiago was not able to attend the COMELEC’s second Presidential debate last March 20, 2016 in the University of the Philippines Cebu College as her camp said that she was trying out a new cancer treatment medication that will improve her condition.
