RIP: Best TV Shows That Were Abruptly Canceled

7. Wowowee

The noontime variety that has beat Eat Bulaga! in ratings was cancelled in 2010. Wowowee is only TV show that caused a stampede that killed 78 contestants and injured more than 300 people because of its popularity. It was a threat for Eat Bulaga! for almost 5 years, however, the string of controversies involving its host Willie Revillame became the spark of the show’s end.  It was reported that Willie’s last straw was when he threatened to quit the program because ABS-CBN’s management refused to fire Jobert Sucaldito, the showbiz reporter who would always criticize Willie. He had more failed shows after Wowowee. We just hope that he can save GMA’s Sunday noon time slot ratings with his new show, Wowowin.

8. Lunch date

Lunch Date was GMA 7’s attempt to match Eat Bulaga which was aired on ABS-CBN at that time. The show was cancelled for not being able to beat Eat Bulaga’s ratings and was reformatted to Salo-salo Together in 1993 after 8 years of being on air.

9. Ang TV

The youth oriented show that ended That’s Entertainment’s reign on TV. Ang TV‘s last episode aired in January 1997.
