GMA Network-ABS-CBN-VIU’s collaboration excites Filipinos

Some acknowledged how the unexpected partnership is certainly one for the books; while others noted how they never thought that such a collaboration would happen.

Netizens’ enthusiasm is at an all-time high following the revelation of the most unexpected team-up in Philippine television.

On Friday afternoon, the social media pages of GMA Network, Dreamscape Entertainment, and Viu simultaneously shared the news of the epic collaboration that is set to be unveiled on January 23rd at 12 p.m.

Many fans of broadcast networks and streaming platforms expressed excitement about the upcoming project.

Some acknowledged how the unexpected partnership is certainly one for the books; while others noted how they never thought that such a collaboration would happen.

Viu said, “A collaboration that nobody expected is about to happen! Save the date! January 23, 2023. 12 NN”.

The teaser trailer for the collaboration has so far garnered 108,000 views and more than 200 comments on GMA Network’s Facebook page. This is just a few hours after it was revealed.

Netizens expect the collaboration to be a game-changer for the Philippine television industry.

GMA is also streaming some of its shows on Viu Philippines, such as “The Write One” and “Love Before Sunrise.” Last year, GMA began airing Star Cinema films on its local channels.

In April of last year, GMA Network President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit Jr. mentioned in a statement that their partnership with Star Cinema Films could open the doors for future collaborations with ABS-CBN.

“To us, we are very pleased because the significance of our partnership today ushers in the possibility of a far broader set of conversations, potential partnerships, and cooperation that will have the benefit not only mutually to GMA and ABS-CBN but as importantly, if not perhaps more importantly, to the benefit of the public we both serve – the Filipino viewer,” Duavit, Jr. said.

“Looking forward, since we have, as they say, broken the ice, there is great optimism that these conversations will start and continue, and we look forward to the possibility of this type of opportunity again moving forward,” he added.
