Three siblings marry on the same day, ignore the curse of “sukob”

Rev. Fr. Andrei Ventanilla who solemnized the wedding also didn’t see anything wrong with the siblings’ decision

Three siblings in Cebu have gone viral after getting married on the same day, defying the curse of the “sukob.”

On July 26, siblings James, RJ, and Princess Go decided that they’d tie the knot with their partners together at the Saint Joseph the Patriarch Parish in Mabolo, Cebu City.

Sukob is a Filipino superstitious belief that says siblings who get married in the same year will result in family members dying consecutively.

Rev. Fr. Andrei Ventanilla who solemnized the wedding also didn’t see anything wrong with the siblings’ decision.

Tao lang naman din ang nagkukuwento tungkol sa ganyang sukob. Hindi ako naniniwala diyan. Mas naniniwala ako sa Diyos,” said their mother Marilyn.

Ventanilla praised the three for going against superstition and believing in Jesus Christ.

“3 Siblings in 1 | Flex ko lang. This is my first time to solemnize a triple wedding of siblings on one occasion which also falls on the Feast of St. Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of our Lord.

My sincerest thanks to these 3 Siblings: James, RJ, and Princess together with your wives and husband: Faye, Jen, and Kenneth for this rare yet awesome opportunity.

You manifested your faith in Christ, the King of kings and Lord of Lords whose power destroys hearsays and superstitions. What a beautiful moment to behold! Indeed, the victory of marriage is the victory of the Church!” he wrote.

Netizens criticized the wedding but Princess brushed them off.

Ang dami naming bashers, parang sila naman ang gumastos.” she wrote on Facebook.
