Why did First Lady Liza Marcos stick her tongue out?

The gesture immediately went viral on social media with some saying that her gesture was not First Lady-like

First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos’ peculiar behavior at her husband’s inauguration drew mixed reactions from netizens.

The whole Marcos family was emotional as sons Sandro, Simon, and Vincent congratulated their father at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila.

But after Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. was sworn in as the 17th president of the Philippines, his wife caught the public’s attention for sticking her tongue out.

As Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo signed the papers, Marcos and his wife held hands. She was handed a handkerchief to wipe her tears away.

The couple’s interaction was inaudible, but it was clear that the two were playful. Liza then stuck her tongue out to the camera after the crowd cheered and teased them.

The gesture immediately went viral on social media, with some saying that her gesture was not First Lady-like.

Liza is a founding partner of her own law firm Marcos, Ochoa, Serapio, & Tan (MOST), now known as M & Associates.

She obtained her Juris Doctor degree at the Ateneo de Manila University in 1985. The 62-year-old taught criminal law in universities such as Mariano Marcos State University in Ilocos Norte, St. Louis University in Baguio City, and Far Eastern University College of Law.

The M & Associates website also states that Liza is a New York Bar Association member, but that claim has been proven false by multiple reports. Her name doesn’t appear in the New York State Unified Court System.

She is the cousin of 2016 presidential candidate Mar Roxas. She met Marcos Jr. in New York in 1989. They tied the knot in Italy four years later.
