Survey suggests that 8 out of 10 people have cried at work

  • 45% have cried because of their bosses and co-workers
  • 15% cried because of workload
  • 13% cried because of workplace bullying

Job search company Monster recently published a study that suggests 8 out of 10 people have cried at work.

There were 3,000 participants and 45% of them said they cried because of their bosses and co-workers.

Only 19% of them said they cried because of personal issues not concerning work.

15% of them said they cried because of workload and 13% cried because of workplace bullying.

Vicki Salemi, a career expert at Monster, said that crying at work is indicative of an unhealthy workplace.

“When you cry at work, that’s a sign of a toxic environment. There are numerous jobs out there where you will be doing the opposite, feeling happy and accomplished.”

Workplace culture has been brought up lately and has been given more attention, along with employee wellness.

Even in politics, emotions cannot be supressed.

CNN’s Chris Cilliza said, “We, collectively, need more empathy, more humanity and more authenticity in our world — and especially in our politics,”

Psychologist Liane Davey on an article said that if an employee does not cry, that only means that they do not care about their job.
