Fake hitman tries to extort money from netizen

MANILA, Philippines. An unidentified man posing as a hitman attempted to scam a certain Gilbert Obispo.

Obispo shared a voice recording of his conversation with the fake hitman on his Facebook page. Based on their conversation, the hitman was threatening to take Obispo’s life if he didn’t send P60,000 through Cebuana Lhuillier money transfer.

Initially, Obispo seemed keen on obeying the demands of the supposed hitman and even asked for details. However, when the hitman demanded that he send the money within an hour, Obispo refused to follow his order. Instead, Obispo suggested that someone he knew would meet with the hitman in Marikina.

(To tell you the truth, that style won’t work for us. I know what you’re thinking even if you don’t tell me. So if you won’t follow our order that you send via Cebuana, then let’s just end our deal.)

Obispo warned netizens to be more cautious of the information they post online and not to set their Facebook profile to public.
