Ten Reasons Gringo Honasan should be the next VP of the Philippines

4. Loving family man

On his official Twitter account, Honasan is described as: “Father of five wonderful children, spoiling and doting grandfather of four grandchildren.” Which only shows that he may be a formidable figure in the military but he values his family more than anything else.

5. 4-time Senator

He became a Senator in 1995, the first truly independent candidate in Philippine history to win in the national elections. He has been a Senator for four terms now.

6. Hardworking

He takes his job as a Senator seriously. He is currently the Chairperson of the Senate Committees on Agrarian Reform, Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, and Public Information and Mass Media. He likewise chairs three oversight committees, specifically the Congressional Oversight Committees on Agrarian Reform and Dangerous Drugs, as well as the Joint Oversight Committee on the Human Security Act. He is Vice-Chairperson of the Senate Committees on Local Government, Civil Service and Government Reorganization, Health and Demography, National Defense and Security, Public Works, Rules, and Amateur Sports Competitiveness and a member of 19 major permanent committees and ten oversight committees.

7. Years of experience

At 67, Senator Honasan spent 17 years as a soldier, seven years as a rebel and 17 years as a lawmaker. He is the most senior and experienced vice presidential candidate.
