APEC inconvenience brings out good samaritan

Over the past few days, netizens have expressed their disappointment over the inconvenience brought about by the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Manila.

Using the hashtag #APECtado, netizens voiced out on various social media platforms their ire over deadlock traffic, mobile signal interruption, slow internet connection as well as salary loss due as a result of the week-long APEC meet.

Despite the negativities surrounding  the APEC summit, some people were able to see the bright side of the situation.

According to netizen Suzanne Pangan, she and her eight-months pregnant sister Shanon Pangan-Reyes were on a bus to Pasay from Cavite on Thursday, November 19. Unfortunately, their trip was cut short because the bus had to stop at  Coastal Road in Paranaque.

Pangan and Reyes were forced to walk from Coastal Road to Heritage Hotel. Knowing that Pangan’s pregnant sister couldn’t endure the long walk, they decided to seek the help of several policemen. Reyes approached a police officer and asked if it would be possible for him to give her a ride.

Without hesitation, a police officer willingly helped Reyes get to her destination by giving her a ride on his motorcycle. Unfortunately, the sisters were unable to get the officer’s name to thank him properly.

On Monday, November 16, thousands of commuters were forced to walk for about four kilometers from Coastal Road to Roxas Boulevard due closure of the road for APEC summit.
