What if someone handed you a bunch of berries that look like eyeballs? Not only do these plants look scary, the entire plant itself is poisonous and may cause gastrointestinal inflammation or skin blisters. The black spot, the part that looks like the pupil, is a residual scar created by the stigma of the plant’s flowers. It’s probably a good thing these plants look so scary so no one will be tempted to taste the berries.

Commonly found in the hills of North America,  the plant often grows to two feet tall and can withstand extremely low temperatures.
