Although people say that we shouldn’t talk about our exes, science says we should in order to move on faster. A study says that recalling and sharing about your recent heartbreak helps one recover faster emotionally.

4. People who’ve been dumped experience heart attack-like pain.

A broken heart from any kind of loss can lead to physical pain. The Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, also known as broken-heart syndrome, is a group of symptoms that are actually similar to a heart attack that happens when a person is emotionally distressed.  It happens to women and patients during the first 48 hours of a recent emotional trauma.

3. You can lose or gain too much weight.

Some people lose weight after a breakup because they lose their appetite which is caused by stress. At the opposite end, other people who go through a breakup gain weight as some food (specially those that have release endorphins or happy hormones) are the highest in calories. (Source)

Science does not have to explain this but those who have experienced heartbreak can attest to this. Studies have also shown that people who go through heartbreak are more prone to clinical depression.

1. Love is the greatest painkiller of heartbreak.

No matter what the source of love is, whether it’s from family, friends or a new love, it helps one feel better. Studies say that the feeling of being loved acts like a morphine or any painkiller. So, if you feel like you can’t bear another day, let others fill your “love tank” until the person who will not break your heart finally arrives.
