Netizen tells motorists to always count change at SLEX tollgate; alleges shortchanging

Celebrity netizen Andrew Wolff shared on Facebook an experience he had at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) tollgate. He reminded all motorists to always count their change before exiting the said tollgate.

According to Wolff, since his family lives in the south and often uses SLEX, they decided to purchase a preloaded E-Pass to pay for the toll fees for their convenience. Sometimes though, their E-Pass would run out of credit so they have to go through the regular tollgate. Based on his experiences, Wolff believes 50% of the transactions with tollgate cashiers “result in an underpayment of change.” The change, says Wolff, are pre-prepared based on the usual bill amounts handed by the motorist (probably to speed up the process). But what he noticed was that a lot of times the change they receive is insufficient, falling short of what was due. In Wolff’s case, it was P1.00 and P100.00 in separate incidents. Wolff alleges that this shortchanging is intentional, knowing motorists are usually in a hurry and would not even mind counting their change.

Wolff was supposed to receive P28.00 in change, but it was P1 short.

Wolff warned everyone to count their change before leaving the tollgate counter. #Checkyourchange
