People tend to cry when they are in pain, sadness, stress, and even when they feel happy. Crying is a way to make a person feel better.

But a study shows that crying could also help an individual to reduce body weight.

A doctor from Los Altos Optometric Group named Dr. Aaron Neufeld said there are three types of tears: Basal, Reflex, and Psychic tears. Basal tears are the “basic functional tears” that keep our eyes moist.

The Reflex tears, also known as “irritation tears,” are caused by environmental stress factors like wind gusts and smoke. The Psychic tears are those associated with feelings and emotions.

Now which of these tears can help you reduce weight?

A recent study shows that emotional crying can help one lose body weight because of the linked hormones that heighten the cortisol level that is induced when you have bottled up emotions.

Some netizens call it “good news”

A biochemist named Willian Frey also found out that stress-induced tears can also remove many kinds of toxic substances from the body. This concludes that crying is an excretory process that removes the substance that can build up during emotional stress.

Because of this, there is a possibility that the body can’t store more fats due to the release of stressful hormones by crying.

Based on the study, it also said that tears triggered by real emotions will only make the slimming effect. The study also advised that the best time to cry is from 7 to 10 in the evening, where you cry over sad movies, or from your broken relationships.
