A study published in One Asia states that people could lose fat by shedding tears because of the cortisol hormones that are released in our body. The more cortisol hormones that are present in our body, the more it could lead to fat loss.

A well-known biochemist named William Frey also supported the finding of the study that stress-induced tears are also good for weight loss since it also helps in removing toxic substances from the body.

But according to the study, if you are someone who doesn’t easily cry, it might not be beneficial because only genuine tears will burn fat.

A person has three types of tears namely basal, reflex, and psychic tears. Basal tears are those that keep our peepers moist, reflex tears are the ones that we involuntarily shed due to smoke or pollution, and psychic tears are linked with true feelings and human emotions.

Cardiac muscles burn around 8 ½ calories an hour when a person is at rest and when a person is emotionally stressed, heart rate also increased. A doctor from Los Altos Optometric Group named Dr. Aaron Neufeld said there are three types of tears: Basal, Reflex, and Psychic tears. Basal tears are the “basic functional tears” that keep our eyes moist.

The Reflex tears, also known as “irritation tears,” are caused by environmental stress factors like wind gusts and smoke. The Psychic tears are those associated with feelings and emotions.
