Mamamayang Liberal (ML) party-list Rep. Leila de Lima drew mixed reactions online after posting a video showing her carrying a suitcase and a paper bag.

The clip was captioned: “POV: Ang laman ng maleta at paper bag ni De Lima.”
In the video, De Lima, dressed in a Filipiniana, is seen walking while pulling a suitcase and holding a paper bag. Upon arriving at her office, she opens the luggage to reveal documents labeled “impeachment.”
While no specific name was shown in the documents, several netizens speculated that the reference could be related to impeachment discussions involving Sara Duterte.
The video surfaced shortly after De Lima’s name was mentioned in allegations made by 18 former Marines, who claimed they had delivered suitcases containing money to certain political figures.
The claims were represented by Atty. Levito “Levi” Baligod. However, Baligod later clarified that he erred in mentioning De Lima as a recipient of suitcase-delivered cash. He stated that what was allegedly seen in her possession at the time was a paper bag, not a suitcase, which supposedly contained money.
De Lima has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
Following her post, some social media users interpreted the video as a tongue-in-cheek response to the controversy.
Comments ranged from describing it as “pang-asar” directed at Vice President Duterte and her supporters, to viewing it as a clever way to address the issue.
Others saw it as a lighthearted attempt to reclaim the narrative surrounding the “maleta” and “paper bag” allegations.
As of this writing, De Lima has not issued an additional statement elaborating on the intent behind the video.
