Actors Mikoy Morales and Esteban Mara are bringing fresh kilig to viewers in their new boys’ love (BL) vertical series ‘Got My Eyes on You’, produced by Puregold and streaming on TikTok.
At the mediacon held last September 16 at Rampa Club in Quezon City, the two shared how they quickly found their rhythm as a love team despite working together for the first time.
“Noong look test pa lang, noong gumawa kami ng eksena, kita mo naman na very disciplined and professional si Teban,” Mikoy said of Esteban. “And higit sa lahat, lalo na sa mga ganitong roles kasi importante siguro na secure siya sa kanyang pagkatao. So, walang room for ilangan. Andaling mag-open up agad and just to jump and dive whatever within, kasi, wala, e. Walang inhibitions! Walang malisya ba. Or walang kahit anong pagho-hold back dahil sa kaartehan. Wala siyang kaartehan. Ha! Ha! Ha!”
Esteban, who is making his first big splash on screen with the project, agreed: “Yes! Secure din naman ako. Siguro nga, iyon yung what makes it… bakit naging madali yung pag-portray namin kay Shawn at Drew. Clear sa amin yung mga kailangang gampanan. So, naging madali, naging suwabe. And yun nga, walang pag-aalinlangan. Kasi, alam namin, e. Once the camera starts rolling, it’s Shawn and Drew already, portraying the characters. So, yun.”
The two also revealed how collaborative they were on set.
“Game siya! Game si Teban,” Mikoy shared. “Kahit doon sa mga times na parang, ‘What if ganito ang gawin natin? Or subukan kaya nating ganito?’”
“Yes, collaborative,” Esteban agreed, laughing as Mikoy added: “Hindi siya yung parang, ‘Huh, hindi sinabi ni Direk yun?!’”
Even filming with dogs—Simba and Lemon, who play Matcha and Miller—posed unique challenges.
“Masaya naman pero challenging siya, kasi hindi mo naman mae-explain sa aso na, ‘Oy! Ito ang units mo, ha?! Ito ang blocking mo, ha?!’” Mikoy joked.
“There were times na kami talaga yung nag-adjust kahit may specific shot list kami,” Esteban added. “Pero dahil doon, nakapuwesto ang aso at ayaw niyang gumalaw, kami na ang nag-adjust. And that also adds to the experience. Fun lang, kasi, spur of the moment siya, e. Mas naging maganda pa yung kinalabasan.”
Mikoy capped it off with a laugh: “No animals were harmed… feelings lang!”
‘Got My Eyes on You’ is a 36-episode BL series that tells the story of Shawn and Drew—starting off as enemies, becoming friends, and eventually, lovers. Directed by Dizelle Masilungan, it also stars Darwin Yu, Ady Cotoco, Toniyuh, Victor Sy, and Hannah Lee.
