The Huawei Pura 80 Series took center stage at the launch of Manila Bulletin’s Earth + Lens 2025 on Thursday, August 28, at the Manila Hotel, where the latest flagship smartphone powered a breathtaking photo exhibit celebrating the Philippines’ natural beauty and cultural identity.
This year’s edition, themed ‘Through the Filipino Eyes’, showcased iconic sights, dynamic scenes, and cultural landmarks that reflect the Filipino spirit—captured entirely with the Huawei Pura 80 Series.
Among the featured photographers were Gab Mejia, National Geographic Explorer and environmental engineer; Jim De Ramos, professional sports photographer; Manila Bulletin photojournalists Santi San Juan, John Louie Abrina, and Jaime Misalucha Jr.; and world-renowned artist Kublai Millan, known for his monumental sculptures, who used the Pura 80 Series to highlight the country’s beauty through mobile photography.
“The Philippines is a country rich in natural beauty and cultural depth—wonders that deserve to be seen and appreciated. With the Huawei Pura 80 Series, I am able to view these wonders through a new lens—clearer, more precise, and profoundly inspiring. It doesn’t just elevate mobile photography; it deepens my artistic perspective, empowering me to express and showcase the essence of the Philippines through my art,” Millan shared.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco praised the collaboration between Manila Bulletin, Huawei, and the Department of Tourism, saying: “This exhibit reminds us that despite the things we may hold in opposition, there is and will always be that which unites us as Filipinos—our love of country, our rich culture, and our pride as a people.”
The Huawei Pura 80 Series boasts the industry’s first Switchable Dual Telephoto Camera, a 50MP Ultra Lighting HDR main camera, 40MP ultrawide camera, and advanced features like Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto and up to 100x digital zoom. These innovations enabled the photographers to capture intricate details of landscapes, nighttime scenes, and action shots with stunning clarity.
Now on its fifth year, Earth + Lens continues its mission of merging advocacy and artistry, using technology and storytelling to inspire Filipinos to preserve the country’s heritage and embrace responsible tourism.
