Veteran actor Gardo Versoza went viral after praising Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, sparking renewed conversations about the young mayor’s leadership style.
In an Instagram post, Versoza shared a photo of Sotto and lauded him for prioritizing public service over appearances.
The actor’s post quickly drew attention, with many netizens echoing his sentiments and expressing hopes that Sotto would one day run for president. Some even directly engaged with Versoza, who personally replied to several comments.
One follower commented, “Hi, Gardo. We need more celebrities like you to awake the Filipinos’ sense of patriotism that has lost its essence since some politicians’ principle,” to which the actor responded with gratitude.
Others went further, openly calling for Sotto to run in the 2028 presidential elections. “Hope 2028 for President Vico Sotto, para makaboto na rin ako habang buhay pa ako,” said one commenter.
Versoza agreed, saying, “Sana nga, the sooner, the better na s’ya ang maging President.

Despite growing clamor for higher office, Mayor Vico Sotto has consistently downplayed political speculation. Back in June, he stood firm on his decision not to run for any national position in the 2028 elections.
