Kyle Jennermann, widely known as Becoming Filipino on social media, proudly cast his vote for the first time as a Filipino citizen during the 2025 midterm elections, sharing a glowing review of his experience at a polling station in Taguig City.
Jennermann, a former Canadian who officially took his Oath of Allegiance to the Philippines in 2023, detailed his voting day through an Instagram post, where he praised the process for its efficiency, friendliness, and professionalism.
“First and foremost, I was really impressed at the vibe at our polling station in Taguig. People were chilled and friendly with one and other… even though I am certain everyone has different voting preferences,” he wrote. “In a tense political climate, this was something very refreshing.”
Jennermann highlighted the systematic organization and security measures in place—from clear signage and picture-ID voter lists to fingerprint verification.
“My name with picture was posted on the door to the voting area… literally no one could vote as me. You not only have to find your image and name, but give your fingerprint… very professional and safe.”
He also commended the polling staff, saying they helped maintain a smooth flow even amid the crowd. His total voting time only took around 45 minutes.
The digital creator also found it commendable that voters could verify their votes through a receipt:
“Wonderful you can see the receipt and double check your votes.”
However, Jennermann noted a few observations that stood out to him as different or needing improvement—particularly the lack of voting privacy and the presence of sample ballots being handed out outside the precinct.
“The classroom setting for voting with little desks was a bit more ‘open’ than I was used to… Just felt a bit harder to be ‘secretive’ with your ballot.”
“I found it a bit strange/sad that people on public roads outside the precinct were offering me cards with sort of ‘sample ballots’… I believe this was to possibly motivate me or influence me.”
Still, he wrapped up his post on a high note: “OVERALL I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED. CONFIDENT IN EVERYTHING TO DO WITH MY VOTES BEING COUNTED. GREAT VIBE AND HELPFUL STAFF.”
