Alex Gonzaga sees the cake-smearing incident as a wake-up call to be more mature

The video, which has since been deleted, showed Gonzaga smearing cake icing on a waiter’s face.

Several months after the cake-smearing controversy that made her a viral sensation, Alex Gonzaga confessed that the event still haunts her.

She stated that it taught her a valuable lesson about being considerate of other people’s emotions.

The video, shared by Dani Barretto, showed Gonzaga celebrating her 35th birthday with friends and family. This included her husband Mikee Morada, a councilor in Lipa City.

The video, which has since been deleted, showed Gonzaga smearing cake icing on a waiter’s face.

The actress said that the incident reminded her to be more conscious and mature in her actions. She acknowledged the importance of being sensitive to the emotions of others at all times.

“‘Yun yung mga times na sobrang saya mo, you should really be careful pa rin. Kahit na you think it’s your safe space, pwede ka pa ring makahurt ng iba.

You really have to be careful,” she added.

When questioned about those who supported her during the height of the controversy, Gonzaga expressed gratitude for those who remained by her side. She stated that she was “really thankful” for their support.

‘Yung mga taong hindi ko talaga friends pero they stood up for me, I’m really thankful for them.”

When asked about her well-being following the controversy, Gonzaga replied that she was “okay” and expressed gratitude for still having upcoming projects. She stated that she was “thankful” for these opportunities.

“Okay naman. Okay na ako, and thankful ako na meron pa ring projects and sana magtuloy-tuloy pa rin.”

Angeline Quinto, Gonzaga’s co-star in “Single Bells,” remembered inviting Gonzaga to a party. The latter jokingly commented that no cakes should be present before agreeing to accept the invitation.

“Sabi nga niya, basta walang cake,” a laughing Quinto said.

It also appears that the incident negatively affected Gonzaga’s career somehow.

According to Ogie Diaz, Gonzaga has not received any offers from the network amid rumors that Lunch Out Loud will soon be canceled.

Cristy Fermin also claimed that Gonzaga failed to renew some of her endorsement deals.
