Choco Mucho, Kim Atienza, and Rendon Labador react to Deanna Wong’s teammates ignoring fans

Most of the athletes seemed to ignore the crowd as they passed by, except for Madayag, De Leon, and Nunag who waved and nodded. Aliyeva, meanwhile, refused to pose for a photo with a fan by shaking her head.

After it was revealed that the Choco Mucho Flying Titans volleyball team ignored its supporters in Boracay, Kim Atienza gave the players some advice, telling them to “act properly in public.”

On Sunday, December 4, the TV host posted a video to his Facebook page that showed a group of volleyball players, including Deanna Wong, Maddie Madayag, Bea De Leon, Odina Aliyeva, and Cherry Nunag, being greeted by fans as they walked towards what appears to be a shuttle service.

Most of the athletes seemed to ignore the crowd as they passed by, except for Madayag, De Leon, and Nunag who waved and nodded. Aliyeva, meanwhile, refused to pose for a photo with a fan by shaking her head.

Atienza said, “As public personalities, (yes athletes are also public figures) we have a choice to inspire and show gratitude to fans who passionately support us, or we can choose to stay private and give them the cold shoulder.”

He said, “This team should be advised that catering to fans is a responsibility, otherwise, stay out of the public eye and play privately.”

The management of Choco Mucho has finally spoken out about the alleged snubbing incident.

The management of one of the most successful teams in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) rushed to the defense of their players on Monday in a post on social media.  It stated, “The team was in Boracay recently for a short break after a busy year of heartbreaking finishes. A video clip from that trip went viral, with netizens portraying some of our players as snobs who lack “good manners and right conduct.”

It added, “Unfortunately, what is not included in the viral clip are other videos online showing the players acknowledging and talking to fans, and accommodating selfies and videos with them while trying to have their break.”

Choco Mucho has stated that they “denounce malicious posts that put our players, our team, and our company in a bad light,” despite the fact that they believe the players “could have handled the situation better.”

Motivational speaker/vlogger, Rendon Labador also criticized Wong for lacking GMRC.

It appears many have stopped admiring Wong for her actions.
