Netizens notice removal of the artworks, promo materials with Tono Gonzaga’s face on Shopee’s social media pages

Netizens recently discovered that promo materials featuring the controversial TV host and YouTuber, Toni Gonzaga, are no longer posted on Shopee’s social media pages.  The discovery came just ten days, after Gonzaga was officially announced as the e-shopping brand’s newest brand ambassador, in time for its 10.10 mega sale.

Did her stint as the e-shopping brand’s new ambassador suddenly ended? Netizens are wondering.

But on October 11, some netizens started noticing the removals of artworks bearing Gonzaga’s face, especially on Shopee’s facebook page.

As of today, all artworks with Toni G have been removed in the Shopee app. Cover photo of the fb page of Shopee has been changed.

“Might be the shortest period for a Shopee ambassador (Oct 1-10 only). Usually, Shopee use an ambassador for a quarter or minimum 1 month”, a netizen’s tweet reads.

“Kaso bayad pa rin eh. So I say continue to #BoycottShopeePH. Ano kaya pa  @ShopeePH.

(Except she was paid with a lot of money. So I say, continue #BoycottShopeePH),” noted another netizen who alluded to the huge sum of money the TV host must have earned from her contract.

“Bakit nawla na si Toni Gonzaga sa SHOPEE app nyo anung nangyari? Mas bumaba ba ang SALES nyo DAHIL sa PAG BOYCOTT NG MGA KAKAMPINK SA SHOPEE?.

“(Why did Toni Gonzaga disappear on your Shopee app? Is it because of your declining sales due to the boycott campaign launched by the Kakampinks?),” asked another netizen.

“Ayon sa vlogger na si Kakampink 101, ngaung payday raw ng Shopee ay hinde na pinapakita ang litrato ni Toni G. Ang tanong epektib ba raw ang pag uninstall ng app nila by kakampinks? Nasaan na raw ang 31M?

“(According to Kakampinks 101, Toni’s photos are no longer shown on Shopee starting this payday. The question now is whether the “uninstall Shopee” campaign launched by Kakampinks was effective. People are asking did the 31 million go),”  tweeted RDA.

Kevin Cuevas also tweeted his observation on the app’s removal of the TV host’s promo materials. “Not Shopee removing traces of Toni Gonzaga after 10.10”, his tweet reads

It can be recalled many netizens took to social media to express their disapproval, following the announcement of the former long-time Kapamilya TV host, as the new Shopee endorser.

The e-shopping brand, however, is yet to comment on the issue and confirm whether or not the netizens’ hunch is correct.
