Agot Isidro has no regrets for standing her ground in terms of political views

Kapamilya actress, Agot Isidro, was unable to evade questions linked to her participation in the last national elections, even through the press conference she attended on Monday, June 18, was for the upcoming Filipino TV adaptation of the South Korean series, Flower of Evil.

The seasoned singer-actress is among the major actors forming the powerful ensemble cast of the Kapamilya series, Flower of Evil.

Kapamilya actress, Agot Isidro, was unable to evade questions linked to her participation in the last national elections, even through the press conference she attended on Monday, June 18, was for the upcoming Filipino TV adaptation of the South Korean series, Flower of Evil.

Isidro was among the most prominent and most visible celebrities who vocally supported outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo’s presidential campaign. She attended a handful of people’s rallies and several election-related engagements in support of the lone female presidentiable in the 2022 national polls.

Asked if she ever regretted publicizing her political stance, she gave nothing but a clear answer. “No regrets. I stood my ground. I fought for my principles, so no regret sa akin ‘yun. As for what’s gonna happen, (I’ll) just keep doing good work. Sa akin, mag-fococus ako sa trabaho, sa pamilya ko, sa mga kailngan ko muna” she said.

Known for her staunch support for Vice President Robredo, Isidro is also known as one of the most vocal critics of the outgoing Duterte administration, as well as the incoming Marcos administration. The actress publicly express her opinions via her social media accounts. The actress, however, has made her Twitter account private, for the time being.

Flower of Evil marks the actress’s second TV series with Dreamscape Entertainment, that was shot during the pandemic. During the press conference, shared how she already worked with fellow cast member, JC de Vera, in the Erich Gonzales-starrer, La Vida Lena.

“Kasi yung first lock-in namin, kasama ko si JC ‘yun. 2020 ‘yun, medyo height ng covid. So medyo, at least now, nag-relax na ng konti. The set-up for actors, and I think for the production is also best na ganon.

(Because our first lock-in taping, I was with JC (de Vera). That was 2020, during the peak of the covid pandemic. But now, we’re more relaxed. The set-up for actors and even for the production was better with that)” she shared.

The actress also shared how she saw her character and differentiated it with the original.“I saw the original version, the original Korean version, way siguro mga 2-3 years ago. So when they offered me this one, parang…go! Kasi ang ganda, I love the story ang daming layers, parang hinuhubaran mo to get to the real meat of the story” she said.

As for the differences, of course may cultural differences yung Korean…they’re more, I guess mas may facade, mas guarded, whereas  Filipino culture are more emo—alam mo ‘yun lumalabas, expressive ayan…so I had to adjust my character in a way” she added.

Isidro seemingly found parallels between her commitment to her political stance and to her roles in any projects. She shared what about her character that did not come to her as a challenge, at all. “Not a challenge is yung love—for the family. Pero yung love na ‘yun is shown differently, hindi sya yung normal love na makikita mo. Pero di ba nga nakakainis yung character ko, but you will understand that it was born out of love for the family” she explained.

The actress hopes the Filipino viewers won’t miss the series’s first streaming day on Viu Philippines on Thursday, June 23 and on Friday, June 24, both at 8:00 pm. The series also airs on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and Kapamilya Online Live, on Saturda, June 25. and Sunday, June 26..
