Crocodile attacks pastor while baptizing at Lake Abaya

• The pastor dies due to the wounds on his legs, back, and hands.

A Protestant pastor gets attacked by a crocodile in the midst of baptizing followers in Lake Abaya, Southern Ethiopia.

The pastor named Docho Eshete was conducting a ceremony for around 80 people on the morning of June 3 when a crocodile was said to have lept from the lake and attacked him.

He was brutally mauled by the crocodile.

The residents tried to help the pastor but unfortunately, he died due to the bites on his legs, back, and hands.

One resident that witnessed the horrific scene said that “He baptized the first person and he passed on to another one. All of a sudden, a crocodile jumped out of the lake and grabbed the pastor,” 

Lake Abaya is located in Arba Minch town’s Merkeb Tabya district, about 225 miles south of Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa.

Witnesses, locals, and others tried to capture the crocodile with fishing nets but the reptile managed to escape.
