Is Candle Cove a real TV show?

  • Creepypasta is a website essentially for internet horror stories passed around on forums and other sites.
  • Candle Cove was (apparently) an American experimental puppet television show in Ironton, Ohio.
  • A debate in Creepypasta on whether the show was real or not.

Creepypasta is a website where people usually share internet horror stories whether real or not. Its users started a debate all over the internet: Was Candle Cove a real TV show?

The topic was opened in a NetNostalgia Forum – Television by a user named Skyshale033. The user asked if anyone remembers the show on television around 1971 or 1972 usually during four in the afternoon.

Another user by the name mike_painter65 said remembering the story about a pirate marionette talking to a little girl. Skyshale033, seemingly breathing a sigh of relief, grateful for the confirmation, thinking that she was crazy.

Jaren_2005 replied and even explained what the show was actually about.

According to Jaren_2005, the show took place in Candle Cove. It was about a little girl who imagined herself in having pirates as friends. She was in a pirate ship called the Laughingstock and a pirate named Pirate Percy. Apparently, he was not a very good pirate because he got scared too easily. There is usually calliope music constantly playing whether in the background or not.

Skyshale033 thanked Jaren_2005 for helping her remember some parts from the show. Then mike_painter65 remembered another part from the show and an equally creepily line.

Skyshale033 then remembered the feeling associated with that creepy line. kevin_hart, another user, thought that the villain was Pirate Percy and that he was too young when the show aired.

Jaren_2005 who was oldest when the show aired, remembered who the villain and the sidekick very clearly. kevin_hart then describe what he remembered that the villain looked like.

mike_painter65 remembered what the tagline of The Skintaker really is and Skyshale033 even shared the nightmares she used to have associated with the villain.

kevin_hart confirmed that it was not a nightmare. It was actually a part of the show.

Jaren_2005 told the story about the same episode and how he never got the courage to turn it back on.

mike_painter65, then, gave the ultimate statement that made readers have goosebumps.

Candle Cove wasn’t even real… If that didn’t scare you or even confuse you even just for a second, there’s something wrong with you. But, if the show wasn’t real, why did these users know about the same episode, the same characters and have the same feelings associated with the show? This thread may be created by just one person through many usernames to frighten people or it may be a real television show design only for kids in that area to see. We may never know…
