An Indian man in Rajasthan lost his life to a rampaging camel which he had left under the heat of the sun with its legs tied up for an entire day. Witnesses recalled that when the man, named Urjaram, went to finally untie the camel, the crazed animal attacked him and severed his head.
Urjaram had apparently forgotten about the animal, as he had been entertaining guests at his house. The camel made him pay dearly for his forgetfulness. In an interview with The Times of India, a witness named Thakara Ram said that “The animal lifted him by the neck and threw him on to the ground, chewed the body and severed the head.”
It then took about 25 villagers approximately six hours to calm down the camel. Prior to this fatal assault, villagers stated that Urjaram had already been attacked by the deranged dromedary before.
Widely used as pack animals, camels aren’t generally known to attack humans. But officials at the Rajasthan State blame the unusually high temperatures currently gripping the area. People, apparently, are struggling with keeping their camels under control in the heat. On a separate incident, a different camel had nearly thrown a jawan—an Indian junior soldier—off its back when it rushed towards some shade.
