Alleged dumping of rotten relief goods rice discovered in Leyte

Last November 29, the administrators of the Dagami (Dagami, Leyte) Police Station’s Facebook page posted how they responded to reports of an ongoing disposal of rotten NFA (National Food Authority) rice.

As posted on the Dagami PS' Facebook page.
As posted on the Dagami Police Station’s Facebook page.

The post states that a concerned citizen reported to Dagami’s Acting Chief of Police Jay Anthony Florencio, that sacks of NFA rice were currently being dumped into an excavated hole located in Barangay Maca-alang. Upon inspection of the area, police officers verified that rotten sacks of rice had indeed been dumped into a man-made hole. The sacks were believed to be from the DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development,) but the post failed to state if police were able to verify this. However, the post did say that the sacks and other packaging were marked DSWD and NFA Rice.

(A lot of people are going hungry, going without rice for a day. And then we find this out. This is the result of those in power… when there’s relief, they are slow to distribute it, until it all goes to waste.) FB user Vi-an Lumbre commented.

Bakit naman ganyan?” (Why is it like that?) asked Rosaleo Barbo, Sr. “People responsible should be brought to court. Concern govt agencies should be investigated esp DSWD under the leadership of colored hair Inday Dinky.”

“The right straight path to the hole,” reacted Rene Gardiola, alluding to the current administration’s “Daang Matuwid” slogan.
