Andal Ampatuan Jr. fears suffering from liver cancer

Months after the passing of his father Andal Ampatuan Sr. due to liver cancer, Andal Ampatuan Jr. has asked the court for permission to allow him to undergo a medical examination in order to check the condition of his liver.

Based on his three-page urgent motion, Ampatuan through lawyer Salvador Panelo is asking the court to allow him to be taken to a medical facility. According to Ampatuan, he has been experiencing severe pain in several parts of his body including the abdomen, chest, and head.

Panelo stated that Ampatuan had previously undergone treatment in the US because of a liver ailment.

Ampatuan Jr. along with several members of the clan are accused of orchestrating the massacre of 58 people in Maguindanao in 2009 in an attempt to stop the Mangudadatu clan’s election challenge.

On July 18, 2015, Ampatuan Sr., the clan’s patriarch succumbed to liver cancer at the National Kidney Transplant Institute in Quezon City at the age of 74.

No word yet if the authorities have granted his request.
