The Road to Forever: Pinoy couple celebrates 84th Wedding Anniversary

This is the secret ingredient to a lasting relationship for a centenarian couple from Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.

Lolo Alfredo Amodo Sr.,101, and his wife, Lola Mercedes,100, celebrated their 84th anniversary this month. The couple married in 1931 when Lola Mercedes was only 16 years old and Lolo Alfredo was 18. They had eight wonderful children, 31 grandchildren, and 38 great grandchildren who are all based in the United States.

While it’s hard to find the right person nowadays when all we can hear, watch, and read are about unfaithful husbands and cheating wives, two-timing boyfriends, and sneaky partners, the story of Lolo Alfredo and Lola Mercedes reassures us that “forever” is possible. That a hundred years of our existence can be dedicated and celebrated with the one and only love of our life.
