What’s on Your Mind? – A Video on Social Media and Escapism

Social media gave everyone a sense of popularity due to our own space in the web. Unfortunately, many people become too absorbed with the attention that everyone can get from the alternate world of cyberspace that they tend to escape from reality by making the cyber world a perfect hideaway. This unhealthy way of socializing leads to escapism where people, instead of resolving problems in their life, pretend that all is well and that they are great, just to impress others. Confirmation through social media makes them believe that all is really well, though not, taking away the sense of need to face the problems and eventually live a life.

Here’s a video of a guy who could have made a difference by facing his troubles instead of running away from them through social media. He could have been a better boyfriend, when his girl, bored in front of the TV set, had his attention. Yet he only pitied himself for his dinner that isn’t the same with others that he sees online. He could have been a better employee if he tried checking what’s wrong with his ability to present and work it out. He could have been a better person if he didn’t pretend in order to get the attention that he seemingly lacks. He could have lived a life.
