Orgasms can make you feel more relaxed and helps with sleep

Orgasms have a lot of benefits. Dr. Gloria Brame, a researcher on BDSM and fetish, masturbation is the one action that you can do to release significant levels of dopamine without the use of drugs.

Julia Heiman, director of the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction says that the benefits of masturbation outweigh all the misconceptions people have towards it.

“The amount of speculation versus actual data on both the function and value of orgasm is remarkable.”

Masturbation gives people pleasure because it allows the body to release dopamine. It also makes the body release oxytocin, which is also known as the love hormone.

The releasing of these hormones reduces stress and at the same time makes people feel more relaxed. The levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which is usually present during times of anxiety, fear, panic, or distress, decreases when oxytocin is produced.

Oxytocin and dopamine are designed to reduce the levels of cortisol which makes the brain more relaxed. The releasing of the said hormones can also boost the immune system. Interestingly, the immune system actually requires a small amount of cortisol for remaining effective. Dr. Jennifer Landa, a hormone-therapy specialist has confirmed this claim previously.

The Department of Medical Psychology at the University Clinic of Essen did a study that produced similar results. The study found that being aroused along with having an orgasm, increases the count of white blood cells. It concluded that the strength of the immune system is affected heavily by being sexually aroused.

Having a strong immune system via orgasm can also lessen, and even prevent pain. This in turn can help avoid the common cold.

Neurologist and headache specialist Stefan Evers says that one in three patients resort to sexual activities or getting orgasm to get relief from migraine attacks. Evers did a study and found that 60% of the respondents reported to have some kind of relief from migraine attacks after getting an orgasm, but 50% of those who suffered from cluster headaches say that things got worse when they did the same. This is mainly because those who did not see any relief weren’t exactly releasing the necessary amount of endorphins.

Rheumatologist Dr. Harris McIlwain says people who suffer from chronic pain have problems with their immune system, and that orgasms can really help.

Serotonin, oxytocin, and norepinephrine are the hormones being released during an orgasm. It helps the body relaxe and makes sleeping an easier process.

Serotonin and norepinephrine also help by making the immune system release cytokines, a protein that combats inflammation and infections during sleep cycles.

Orgasms also help prevent men from getting prostate cancer, specifically those who are at the age of 50 and above. But excessive orgasms can actually increase the risk of prostate cancer in younger men.

Orgasms can also get your skin glowing, plus it also reduces the risk of getting heart disease.
