Celebrity photographer Raymund Isaac, in a series of Facebook posts, narrates behind-the-scene stories in his photoshoots with one catching the interest of netizens over a budding make-up artist’s shocking demand for payment.

His story, dubbed as “horror,” involved a young female celebrity and an upcoming make-up artist known in their circuit for his dedication and craft.

Isaac described that not everything is glamour and peachy when it comes to his industry. Everyone dream of that special break where they “can finally play with the big guys and be part of the exclusive A-listers.”

And same with anyone else who started from the bottom, they had to invest in upcoming celebrities hoping that if they hit it big, the “nobodies” would be dragged along with them.

And most “starting” celebrities do make such promises that if they land a big project they would hire this make-up artist and his/her crew.

According to Isaac, he did experience receiving these promises when he was young, but only a few celebrities managed to follow-through. “So when an opportunity arises and we do get picked for a special project, people normally react in 2 different ways. One may react by saying, “I will do my best and show them that I have what it takes.” The other will react by asking for an impossible price, and since the celebrity picked them, the client has no choice,” he said.

And from then, the “freak show” started when the newbie make-up artist “marches in more diva than the celebrity and marks his territory. He doesn’t talk to anyone, client or agency, and simply says, ‘I will do what the celeb wants me to do, so talk to her first…’”

Their client and agency talked to Isaac and gave their directions about the photoshoot and he passed this on to the make-up artist and his crew. He left them to their own devices and when the young female celebrity got up and changed for the shoot, the make-up artist went up to the client and declared that his services has a “shelf life.”

Isaac wrote: “Yes. He said that his make-up is only usable within 3 months. And usage of the image beyond 3 months, the client would have to pay again. Wait. What? I have never heard this before. His contract is shorter than the celebrity whose usage is 12 months… The client went ballistic. The agency was in a pickle. And I had to step in to manage the situation. The make-up artist was getting snooty and mataray. I pulled him aside and politely told him this was never done in any of my shoots. He replied by saying that they should have cleared it first and that, the celebrity will not shoot without him.”

The client then confronted the celebrity and her P.A. to clear the matters and the young star was quick to wash her hands off this responsibility and was even apologetic. “She even asked for a replacement for the make-up artist so as not to rock the boat. The make-up artist was in shock. The client in turn fired him in front of everybody and walked away,” Isaac further described.

On bended knees, the make-up artist with tears in his eyes asked for an apology to their client and said, “Sir, pasensya na po. Kala ko ho makakalusot ako sa demands ko.”

But it was all in vain as the said client has already called for another make-up artist. This client had only this for a response, “Gusto mo ng pasensya? Eto 50 pesos, pumunta ka sa tindahan sa kanto, baka mayroon doon.”

Isaac recounted that that was the end of the make-up artist’s venture into their world.
