There are people who does not want to go to hospitals, even for a simple checkup, because they are not only afraid of the hospital itself but also the medical equipment they think will be used on them. Well, if you see these 25 medical instruments, you’ll be really thankful, and I mean, really, really grateful they are not used any longer. Why? Well, by the looks of it, they should be featured in some sort of horror films!
25. Electric Bath – This crazy looking contraption was the precursor to the modern sun-bed circa 1900.
24. Pre-PET headgear – Built in 1961 by the Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Instrumentation Division to study the working brain, chemists at Brookhaven National Laboratory used this device to detect small brain tumors.
23. Vaginal Washer – This device was used to clean the inside of one’s vagina via a perforated water-spraying tube and a rotating squeegee scraper.
22. Bergonic chair – Used in World War I to administer electroconvulsive therapy for some shell-shocked soldiers.
21. Artificial kidney machine – This machine filtered blood impurities using a permeable cellophane membrane and was used to treat people with end-stage renal disease.
